Burn Ban Information

Stutsman county has an automatic burn ban. Any day where the fire danger rating is VERY HIGH, or EXTREME for Stutsman county, any and all open burning is prohibited, along with other activities as outlined in the Stutsman County burn ordinance which is linked below. Additionally, the burn ban is in effect at any point there is an active RED FLAG warning issued by the National Weather Service for Stutsman county. Please make sure you check the fire danger rating and look for any red flag warnings before burning to avoid any potential fines.

If you are burning anything that may produce a large amount of smoke or flames, it is also encouraged that you call the Stutsman Law Enforcement center at 701-252-1000 and inform them that you will be burning something in order to help reduce the number of calls your local fire department receives from passer-by’s that may report the smoke.
